Entertainment to fit your budget

Entertainment to fit your budget

You don't need to spend a lot of money to enjoy yourself.

Very few things in life are free. Although Britain is recovering from the worst economic downturn the economy has ever seen and frugal living seems to be on trend at the moment, it doesn't mean you can't have a little fun.

Take a few minutes to add up some of your monthly expenses. Take into account cable TV, your mobile including the apps you have downloaded, broadband, utility bills and your mortgage if you have one.

That alone adds up to thousands a year and I haven't even mentioned pub expenses, restaurant outings, concerts and football matches yet.

Dating

This is a tricky one. When you go on a first date, you obviously want to make a good impression. You don't need to spend a lot of money to do this. If you plan on picking up the tab and don't want to break the bank on someone you barely know, there are a few things you can do to decrease the amount you spend.

Suggest lunch instead of a dinner. This will significantly reduce your bill - unless the person you are with feels the need to drink a couple bottles of wine that afternoon.

Suggest a walk and take advantage of the various free museums and art galleries. It won't cost you anything and you may be able to score points by illustrating how culturally stimulating you can be.

Theatre

There is plenty of cheap open air theatre throughout the summer and it's a good opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

If you fancy seeing the latest Hollywood blockbuster on offer, Orange Wednesdays are cheap - you get two tickets for the price of one.

Vouchers

Voucher codes are all over company newsletters and websites so take advantage. You can find great deals on food and drinks at numerous locations. It may not be the best thing to do on a date but when you are out with friends and co-workers, they do come in handy.

Check myvouchercodes.co.uk to see what they are offering.
