Savers 'calm despite climate'

14.10.2008

Brits with cash in savings accounts are remaining calm despite the financial situation, it is claimed.

Research conducted by the Times among its online readers finds less than one in four people say they moved their money since Northern Rock failed.

According to the newspaper, almost half of all people with money in savings accounts say they are not concerned about the safety of their cash.

Furthermore, almost six in ten people agree Gordon Brown should use tax money to curb the effects of the financial crisis, the publication reports.

While the Times discovered optimism from people with savings accounts, analysis published today by Lloyds TSB stated that two in five Britons are saving less than they used to.

It revealed four in ten families have savings of less than £500, despite growing numbers recognising the importance of having a cash reserve.

The bank urged people to put money into savings accounts as a cushion against financial problems.ADNFCR-1717-ID-18826050-ADNFCR
