Holidaying drivers 'should buy breakdown cover'
30.07.2008
Those planning a trip away for the August bank holiday should check they are prepared for emergencies, it is recommended.
Car insurance provider Tesco suggests families planning to head away in their cars this August should consider purchasing breakdown cover ahead of their journey.
Such protection is useful for driving trips to Europe but also for travelling within the UK, it states.
"In the unfortunate event of a vehicle being hit by mechanical problems, car breakdown cover minimises disturbance to travel plans and allows customers to get quickly back on the road," Tesco adds.
Earlier this month, Tesco suggested British holidaymakers who are comparing car insurance before heading abroad should not simply choose the cheapest deal.
It argued motorists should check exactly what each policy offers for overseas driving, as some car insurance providers will only offer third-party deals.
Despite this, Tesco revealed 70 per cent of people consider the price of cover to be the most important thing.
