Parents warned about students' parties

20.08.2008

Following their exam success many students may be considering organising a party at their homes to celebrate, prompting one expert to urge parents to keep a close eye on the festivities.

According to Rachael Stiles of Fairinvestment.co.uk, home insurance may not always cover damage caused during parties that get "out of hand".

She commented: "Although accidental damage is designed to protect you, it is not necessarily valid when it comes to malicious damage inflicted by a stranger."

Instead of solely relying on their home insurance policies covering them, parents ought to keep a "close eye" on any parties and work out a guest list with their children, the expert advised.

This, she said, may show insurance providers that they are taking "reasonable care to prevent damage" to the property and could save them money.

Last week, it was announced that the pass rate for A-levels rose for the 26th year in a row, the Times reports.
