Holidaymakers 'less concerned with environment'

4.07.2008

The number of Britons considering a UK break for environmental reasons has fallen by 12 per cent since last year, a study suggests.

However, half of British people are choosing to spend at least one of their holidays in the UK this year, according to a survey from the AA.

It finds more than one in five Brits are planning a driving holiday because they want to save money.

Mark Huggins, head of AA personal loans, says people are also thinking carefully about buying smaller cars to save money.

He adds one in three car buyers use a personal loan to buy their vehicle, so consumers should compare loans to ensure they get the best deal.

Research in June from creditexpert.co.uk suggested Brits are "in the dark" about their own finances, with only one in four able to accurately state how much they have left to pay on their loans.
