Private Medical Insurance Compare PMI Schemes
New private health plan for children
16.06.2008
AXA Insurance has introduced a new private healthcare plan specifically for children.
The First Healthcare scheme costs £9.99 a month and, among its benefits, offers to pay for in-patient or day-patient private hospital treatment "provided the NHS cannot see the child within six weeks of when treatment should take place".
AXA states this helps to keep premiums low because it allows the NHS to take care of urgently-needed treatment while avoiding delays.
Head of product management Geoff Salter said: "First Healthcare is for people who may not be able to afford private healthcare cover for their whole family but who want to make sure their children are covered."
Mr Salter suggested the policy will provide parents with peace of mind in the knowledge that their children can receive prompt private medical care.
Last month, AXA launched a new travel insurance policy specifically aimed at independent travellers.
AXA said that standard travel insurance may leave gaps in cover for those travelling independently.
