Brits "desperate" to lose overseas yob rep

26.08.2008

Research released today claims Britons are desperate to lose their yob abroad image.

In news which may interest travel insurance customers, a study by Carter Allen private bank suggests holidaymakers are also choosing to travel to locations where they believe they will not meet other British tourists, with more than 57 per cent of those questioned doing so.

More than half of those tried to avoid Brits because they believe their country folk behave so badly on holiday.

Sally Watts, Carter Allen's director of marketing, said: "Britons are becoming more discerning about where they holiday and are keen to avoid stereotypes of British unruliness abroad."

Participants also spoke of the importance of a holiday, with 33 per cent claiming it is one of the three most important things to them, while 46 per cent stated the image their chosen holiday destination projects is also important.

Meanwhile, earlier this summer research by Sainsbury's claimed more than 13 million British tourists will holiday without valid travel insurance.ADNFCR-1717-ID-18748993-ADNFCR
