Brits 'place travel insurance on holiday to-do list'
15.07.2008
The majority of British travellers put the purchase of travel insurance on their holiday to-do list alongside money and shopping, according to recent research.
A survey by Marks & Spencer has shown that as well as buying travel insurance in advance, many holidaymakers buy money before they go abroad.
The research showed that 69 per cent of holidaymakers said they would buy foreign currency before they travelled.
In addition, Marks & Spencer estimates that today will the busiest day for shopping as parents prepare for the school holidays and the summer getaway.
Fraser Millar, head of travel services at Marks & Spencer, said: "It's encouraging that so many holidaymakers are buying their travel money in advance, as it's always a good idea to buy before you fly."
Meanwhile, AXA has warned independent travellers to check their travel insurance before they go abroad.
The insurer has urged those people who make their own travel arrangements rather than buy a package holiday to check the terms of their travel insurance product to ensure it is adequate.
