British Gas cuts standard gas prices by 7%

This week, British Gas cut the cost of their standard gas prices by an average of 7%. This price cut has come into effect immediately, and according to the company could benefit as many as 8 million households.

British Gas says this should save the average customer £55 a year - and that, on average, it is now the cheapest standard gas supplier in Britain.

The energy giant has also announced this week the release of its new market leading online tariff 'Websaver 6'. At £899 a year this new energy plan is currently the cheapest on the market.

British Gas's announcement should remind consumers of the importance of regularly shopping around and comparing what energy tariffs on offer.

If you are currently on your energy supplier's standard plan you could save a tremendous £330 a year by switching to British gas's new deal.
