E.ON is third supplier to cut gas prices
E.ON yesterday became the third energy company in recent weeks to reduce the cost of its standard gas prices – with a 6% cut from 31 March.
E.ON said the move will cut annual gas bills for those paying by direct debit by £42 and is the third price cut the company has announced in the past 12 months.
British Gas was the first firm to cut its standard gas prices this year when it announced a 7% reduction last month. Then, Scottish and Southern Energy announced on Friday that it will cut its prices by 4% from 29 March.
Despite these price cuts, customers still need to do all they can to cut the cost of their bills. Moving to a dual fuel plan and paying by direct debit could lower the amount you pay. In fact, changing your energy supplier could save you as much as £430 this year.
On average, here is how the top five online plans compare against their standard equivalents.
