E.ON prices rise for domestic customers

Energy firm E.ON has announced that it is raising its electricity and gas process for its UK customers.
The firm anticipates the 16 per cent increase in electricity prices and 26 per cent rise in the cost of gas will impact upon more than a quarter of its customers.
It said the move was promoted by a 51 per cent increase in wholesale costs since February this year.
Graham Bartlett, managing director of E.ON's retail business, said he acknowledged that this is a "tough time for everyone".
"This was not an easy decision to make and we've tried to keep these increases as low as possible while protecting as many of our customers as we can," Mr Bartlett stated.
E.ON is now planning to increase its assistance to vulnerable customers, he added.
The news follows a similar announcement by Scottish and Southern Electric, which increased its own electricity prices by 19.2 per cent and gas bills by 29.2 per cent.
