There two most common forms of broadband available are ADSL and Cable Broadband.

ADSL Broadband is delivered down a regular home telephone line. Its main advantages are; it is cheap, fast and reliable. The ADSL broadband market is extremely competitive with a large number of ISP's offering competitive broadband packages for consumers. One drawback is to receive ADSL broadband you must live within a 7km range of a telephone exchange, otherwise you will not be able receive the service.

Cable Broadband is delivered down your television cable. Its main advantages are; it is cheap, reliable, and in some cases can be faster than an ADSL broadband service. Unlimited Broadband - This is the term used by a number of internet providers to describe broadband packages that have an 'unlimited' download limit, sometimes a fair usage policy applies. If a broadband package has a download limit it means there is a certain amount of data and information you can download from the internet. Reading emails, stories or browsing websites doesn't use much data, however downloading songs, video's or movies can increase your usage substantially. Restricted download packages may have extra charges if you exceed these limits. If you choose an unlimited broadband package you may pay a slightly higher monthly charge, but you will be able to use the internet as much you like without any extra usage charges, in most cases you will be subject to a supplier fair usage policy.

Limited Broadband - These packages have a restricted amount of data and information that can be downloaded in a given month. If the limit is exceeded the supplier can request you either reduce future usage or upgrade the customer to a more expensive package.

No Contract Broadband - If you don't like being tied to a 12, 18 or 24 month contract with your broadband supplier, there are some companies who offer contract free packages.
